We know that getting your message into 140 characters is a challenge – especially when you want to add a link. Luckily, there are third party services like bit.ly that make the squeeze into 140 a little easier. Not only do they shorten links, they make them customizable and trackable.
Step 1
In a browser, Go To http://bit.ly/ and Click Sign Up.
Step 3
Now you’re ready to start shortening and sharing links!
Go to any web address, copy and paste the URL, and bit.ly will do the rest. In this example, we’re shortening a URL from Amazon.com.
Once you’ve found the link you want to use, Copy the Full Link from the address bar.
Step 4
Paste the ink into your bit.ly account, Click Shorten.
Bit.ly will generate a shortened link for you to tweet. Check your bit.ly account at any time to see how many people have viewed your link.
While we love Bit.ly, there are a lot of similar services out there, including third party Twitter clients, so find the service that works best for you.
