Facebook Facebook Insights

Step 1

Once you’re logged in to your business page, it’s easy to get started. Click on View Insights from the right side bar.

Step 2

You’ll be taken directly to some graphs and stats.

In this example, it looks like our “likes” are down 82% but our Post Views are up 138%.

What does this mean? While fewer new people are liking our Brand Page, we’re seeing more engagement from the people already following us.

Go for Quality

It’s easy to get caught up in how many fans you have, but we believe that quality beats quantity any day.

The Interactions section shows you how to measure the quality of your fans with metrics like:

Post Views – Number of times fans and non-fans have viewed News Feed stories posted by your page

Post Feedback – Number of "likes" and comments made on News Feed stories posted by your page

Impressions – Number of times a given post was seen in a News Feed or on your page wall

Feedback – The percentage of "likes" and comments on a post over the number of times it was seen in a news feed or on your page wall

Be Insightful

What should you do with all of these great insights?

Aside from setting and measuring specific goals, here’s how you can use insights to take action:

  1. If a piece or type of content gets a lot of views or interactions, do more of that! Maybe you’ll find that people love photos of your events, links to relevant news stories, or posts related to specific themes. Whatever it is, give the people what they want!

  2. If a piece or type of content doesn’t get a lot of views, evaluate why, and do less of it.

  3. Learn something new about your audience and don’t be afraid to adjust your strategy! Maybe your demographics are different than you think. Maybe a lot of people prefer to observe your posts, while there are a few committed community leaders who always have something to say. Whatever you find, synch your content strategy up with those insights.
