Facebook Secure A Vanity URL

Nothing vain about it!

A custom Facebook URL is a great way to increase brand awareness and make it even easier for someone to find, and like, your page.

So instead of your page being called “http://facebook.com/profile.php?id=2330495”, you can create a link that looks like:http://facebook.com/yourusername.

Sounds Good, Right? Here's What You Need To Know:

  1. Your desired URL name must be available. And you’ll want to make sure you love your vanity URL, because once you’ve selected and confirmed it, you cannot change it for any reason.
  2. If you manage multiple Pages, you'll be able to secure a custom URL for one of them right away. For the others you'll need to gather 25 "Likes" for the Page before you can set the custom URL.
  3. You must agree to the terms as set forth by Facebook.

Step 1

In a browser, Go To http://facebook.com/username/

Step 2

You can personalize the URL for either your business or your personal page. Just choose which one you want to do and select that page from the drop down box.

Step 3

Let’s say our business is Great Oaks Manor Plantation Weddings. We can type in our URL idea, “greatoaksmanor” and see if it’s available.

If your preferred name is not available, keep trying until you find an alternate name you like.

Step 4

Luckily our preferred username is available, and we’ve made sure that we’re going to be happy with it until the end of time.

Once we confirm our selection, we’ll be able to access our page with the shortened Facebook URL of: http://facebook.com/ourusername  where “ourusername” is the name we selected for our custom URL.

Click Confirm and you’re done.
