Why Customize?
Your LinkedIn Profile is basically your online resume. It’s your opportunity to present yourself to anyone who wants to do business with you and your organization– clients, partners, hiring managers – you name it. Since your LinkedIn profile may be your first impression, you’ll want to make it shine.
Let's create a LinkedIn profile that really reflects you.
Step 1
From your profile page click on Add a Past Position.
It’s a good idea to list other positions you have held because LinkedIn uses that information to help connect you with former colleagues.
Step 2
Step 3
From your profile page, select Add a School.
By adding your high school, college, university and/or graduate program, LinkedIn can help you connect with other alumni who could turn into business contacts, customers, and even your future employees and employers.
Step 5
Adding your website(s) or blog(s) will help people learn more about you and your organization. It will also help more people find your blog and website. From your profile page, select Add a Website.
There’s no limit to how many URLs you can add. Consider adding a link for people to join your email newsletter list, too.
Step 6
From this page you can enter even more information about your professional and personal interests, groups, and awards.
Remember, the more information you provide, the more reasons you’ll give for people to connect with you.
When you’re done, Click Save Changes.
Step 7
If you use Twitter, add your Twitter account so that your LinkedIn connections can follow your tweets.
From your profile page, select Add a Twitter account.
To learn how to get started with Twitter, vist the Twitter section
Step 8
A popup window will appear asking you to login to Twitter. Enter Your Twitter Username & Password.
Click Allow…LinkedIn doesn’t actually store your password, so it’s safe.
