Facebook Set Up Your Profile

Step 1

Go to http://www.facebook.com/

Already have a Profile? Skip to Set Up Your Brand Page.

If Facebook were a country, it would be the 3rd largest country in the world! Just think of the potential customers for your small business.

Step 2

You’ll need to give Facebook your basic personal info to sign up. They’ll walk you through the form to tell you what they want to know.

When you’re done, it should look similar to the box shown here.

Click on Sign Up.

Step 3

Facebook  wants to make sure that you’re a human, and that your privacy is protected against security threats. They do this with something called a CAPTCHA.

We know that sometimes these types of things can be difficult to read. The good news is that you can either refresh the page to get a new set of words, or opt for an audio version.

When you’ve cracked the code, Click on Sign Up.

Step 4

Facebook wants you to be connected with people you know, so they’ve built ways to help.

Using this 3-step prompt,  you can find friends, fill out some basic profile information, and add your profile picture or avatar.

Remember, since this is your personal Profile, you’ll want to only invite people that you’re social with to connect. Save your customers for your Page.

If you want to do this later, click Skip this Step.

You don’t need to add all of your friends yet, so in the interest of time, we suggest you skip adding friends already on Facebook. You can always go back and take advantage of this feature at any time by going to: http://www.facebook.com/find-friends/

Step 5

Help people know that it’s you!  Here you can enter some basic profile information, such as where you went to school or where you work.

Adding your High School, College and Employment information, and interests makes it easier for Facebook to recommend people for you to connect with.

Step 6

Now the fun part: adding your profile pic!  You can either upload a favorite photo from your computer, or take a photo with your webcam.

If you go the uploading route, Facebook will let you browse your hard drive for the perfect picture.

Click Browse and Upload a Profile Photo.

Then Click Save and Continue.

Step 7

Congratulations, you set up your Profile!

Facebook will send you a confirmation link so you can verify your email address.

Just click on the link, and it’s official.
