What's a Profile?
Who’s It For?
Your Facebook Profile is your home base on Facebook for you as an individual, not as a business. While you don't have to be active on Facebook to reap the benefits professionally, it is still a good idea to have a personal profile.
What's it Good For?:
- Sharing photos, videos and links
- Adding friends
- Posting comments
- Communicating with your friends
- Connecting with your favorite brands, celebrities and causes
Remember: Your Profile is not the place to sell products or services. Save promotions for your Page.
What's a Page?
Who’s it For?
Your Facebook Page is basically a profile for your business. Set one up so that your customers can “like” your business on Facebook. When they “like” you, you can get your messages in front of them
What's it Good For?:
- Promoting your company
- Posting announcements
- Running promotions
- Offering specials
- Sharing photos, videos, and links
- Encouraging people to like your Brand
- Getting people to sign up for your newsletter
What's a Group?
Who’s it for?
Think of Groups like discussion forums that can be either public or private. (If you’re familiar with Google Groups, it’s a similar idea.)
What's it Good For?
- Sending messages to all group members
- Following discussions about topics you care about
- Asking and answering questions
- Inviting new members to join the conversation
- Posting links
- Posting jobs
You might set up a group for your company that just includes employees or top customers to brainstorm product or marketing ideas. Or you might put together a group around a specific topic or cause. The key to a successful group is member participation.
